How to install a FEGO screen

Four steps and no power tools. One person can hang a door screen. A two-car garage screen is easier with two.

  1. Clean the frame

Wipe the door frame where the strip will sit and wait until it is dry. Dust and damp are why a strip lets go.

  2. Press the strip on

Peel the adhesive hook-and-loop strip and press it along the top and both sides of the frame.

  3. Hang the screen

Start at the top centre so the seam hangs straight, then press the screen onto the strip working outward.

  4. Pin the corners

Push the pins from the box through the strip at the corners and along the top. Check that the magnets meet all the way down.

  • A dry cloth over the frame first. Then the strip, pressed on along the top and down both sides. Then the top edge of the screen, pressed onto the strip from the centre outward.

  • Clean the frame
  • Press the strip on
  • Hang the screen

In the box

  • The screen or curtain
  • A roll of hook-and-loop strip
  • Push pins
  • Printed instructions

What buyers learned

  • One buyer hung the 16 x 7 ft screen in about 30 minutes once the trim was ready.
  • In strong summer heat the adhesive can let go. One buyer with four dogs screwed through the strip along the top to reinforce it.
  • On a windy day the mesh can blow in against a steel garage door and the magnets cling to it. A push frees it.

Installation questions

How long does it take to install a FEGO garage door screen?

About 30 minutes for the 16 x 7 ft screen, by one buyer's count, once the frame is clean and dry. A FEGO door screen takes less.

Will the adhesive strip hold in summer heat?

Not always. Buyers in hot climates report the strip on the Magnetic Garage Door Screen letting go, and one 3-star review describes the adhesive slipping in the heat. Use the push pins from the box along the top and at the corners.
